AAMA 501.2 Testing in Pasadena

The AAMA 501.2 testing is a test which we use primarily on new window installations. I say primarily because we do use the wand for some ASTM 2128 testing as well. For the most part, this test is stipulated by the designer or architect. The reason behind requiring such a test is to verify whether the window leak, or not.

Performing the AAMA 501.2 testing test means using a special hand held sprayer or wand. The wand has a calibrated water gauge which is required to be calibrated on a regular basis.  When performing the actual AAMA 501.2 test, we keep the wand at least 12″ away from the specimen. Finally, we spray the water at 30-35 PSI, no less than that unless specified.  However, even at a specified rate, it cannot be less than 25 psi.
